Auto Number generation

I would like to know what is the use of Auto Number Generation in NGL software if anybody knows please reply.

Auto number Generation in NGL software is useful for getting the suggestion for assign next accession number. Like if you have last accession number 1234 then the suggested accession number would be 1235.
Like that it will work.
