Open ENV_VAR.txt which is present in C:/NewGenLibFiles/SystemFiles.
Open it with Wordpad
In this you will find a key called DEFAULT_SEARCH put is value as basic. This means that line must look like this DEFAULT_SEARCH=basic Other accepted values are advanced, expert, freeText If you give any other value other than the above, by default freeText is considered On 03/14/2012 12:54 PM, rithya [via NewGenLib] wrote: sir

Good day!
Free text is the default search now, and most of the time it's the only search the users will ever need, but if a user selects basic search and then enters the keyword, the next page will go back to the 'free text' search. So if there are no hits using the basic search, the user won't see the "No match found" message because it is in the basic search tab and the view was reverted back to the free text tab. Is it possible that if a user selects the basic search tab, it will stay in that search mode until the session expires?

Yes, I want that to happen, where the search mode tab doesn't change as you search. Currently, that is not the case, as it always go to free text mode when a user already is searching in basic search mode. Will that change in the next update?

Hi,
This functionality is already available in the update you are using. 1. I hope you made changes in ENV_VAR.txt. 2. Also please tell us the browser that is being used. We tested here both in Firefox and Chrome. We will be interested to see this problem online so that the problem is debugged better On 03/17/2012 12:13 PM, pedroparkero [via NewGenLib] wrote: Yes, I want that to happen, where the search mode tab doesn't change as you search. The line in my ENV_VAR is:
DEFAULT_SEARCH=freeText and I am using Chrome. Unfortunately, the installation is not yet hosted on the Internet, as we are waiting for the new server computer to be configured.

Hi,
I think the issue is now clear to us 1. You set default search as free text 2. When user opens up the OPAC, as desired free text opens 3. But user chooses to use basic search 4. The system must have basic search as default and NOT free text. This must happen till the user session expires If this is correct, we will register the issue and fix this issue On 03/19/2012 10:15 AM, pedroparkero [via NewGenLib] wrote: The line in my ENV_VAR is: |

Yes, if a user chooses basic search, then perhaps the OPAC must be temporarily in basic search all the time until the user session expires or if the user chooses to revert back to free text mode.
