Dear All,
In our college using NewGenlib Software. The all books entries are finished, after that what i do? |
To print the barcodes
1. Download and install IDAutomation barcode font from http://download.cnet.com/Free-TrueType-Code-39-Barcode-Font/3000-2190_4-10067143.html 2. Go to Utilities -> Print spine labels. This functionality also prints barcodes. Enter the accession numbers (or range) you would like to take a print out. Barcodes are stored on a excel sheet. 3. Using Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice open this excel sheet. You will find barcodes in it. Use a laser printer and put a A4 paper(if possible self-adhesive) and print this sheet. 4. Cut the barcodes and stick them on the books |
It is ok to take a printout of a barcode for books (i.e. accession number) and its also ok to take a spine label with call no., but
Can I generate barcode of our user/patron? I mean to say "How can I generate barcode for our users/patrons?" |

Hi! I haven't tried using a barcode system yet, so I would just like to ask if the barcodes that NGL can generate can support accession numbers with alphanumeric prefixes that are separate from the all-number accession numbers from our collection. Thank you.

Hi, NGL helps in generating barcodes from a Laser printer. It is for
those libraries which do not have barcode printers. To help these
libraries avoiding a separate cost, NGL generates a list of barcodes
in an Excel sheet which can be printed on a self-adhesive A4 sheet
of paper.
You can print barcodes from Technical Processing->Utilities->Print Spine Labels and Barcodes. Here there is button to print barcodes in Code 3 of 9 standard. This barcode supports alpha-numeric accession numbers. Please note that a free font named IDAutomation must be installed. This is available free of cost at http://www.idautomation.com/fonts/free/ On 03/21/2012 09:04 AM, pedroparkero [via NewGenLib] wrote: Hi! Ok, that's cool. Just confirming that it will support the many accession series that we have implemented. Thank you very much!

Hi - I'm trying to print my spine labels and barcodes, but my pages are coming up blank. Do I need to have the font mentioned above installed to be able to print the labels? What fields need to be populated for the labels to print? Also do bar codes need to be all numeric?
