No I mean it will still be validated but if it's already in authorities, it wouldn't ask you furthermore if you want to select a similar one or create a new one. It will just quietly go to the Holdings module.

So, when you modify a record and you just change something in the title, without touching the subjects, do you go directly to the holdings module? Because, except I miss something, when I catalogue / modify a record even if I retrieve all the subjects (using the green button) which means that the subject are in the authority database, when I save the record I still have to validate the subjects. I never go directly to the holdings module. I have to validate the subjects every time. On Oct 17, 2011, at 9:55 AM, pedroparkero [via NewGenLib] wrote:

Yes. That's supposedly what should be the usual experience. When I select a record and click modify from the search module and then immediately click the modify button without changing anything, then a window will pop up with a list of things to validate. I just click "Validate" and then it should just go straight to the Holdings window without asking me to create a new record or select an entry below.
I don't know why it doesn't happen to you, but perhaps you have multiple subject entries with the exact same text? e.g., 2 authority files with heading "Recycling." and your record also has "Recycling." If this is the case, then maybe the application doesn't know where exactly your record's "Recycling." should go so it is asking you?

I see...very strange. It happens even when I don't have multiple subject entries.
I didn't have idea that this was the expected procedure. I always have to validate. Maybe the verus support team could enlight us? Hi,
The current program flow is as mentioned below When you are saving or modifying a catalogue record the system picks up all the authority data and matches it against the entries in the database. If the system matches an exact entry in the database then it does not ask for any interaction. However if it finds a slight change then the list of entries are shown and user action(Create new or select existing) is necessary. Hence whether you edit authority data or not, validation process occurs on all authority data. However as discussed, the newer updates will filter out authority data that are not edited On 10/17/2011 01:27 PM, nsid [via NewGenLib] wrote: I see...very strange. Ok, I believe that the updates new workflow will be great.
However, till today, in my system always I go through the validation process everytime. I could show this issue via skype sharing screen or by sending you my database. On Oct 17, 2011, at 12:09 PM, Verus Open Source Support [via NewGenLib] wrote: Hi, |

Good day!
I would also like to suggest in the authority search module, perhaps you can add an indicator alongside the subject headings, in a separate column, the number of records that are actually using that exact subject heading and a means to show those records. For example, I want to know how many records I have that has the exact subject heading "Psychology". I could search in the Search Catalogue module with the term "Psychology", but that would also result in titles with subject headings "Psychology, Experimental", "Psychology--Textbooks.", etc. I wish I could tell how many records are using the exact subject heading and which records are they among the others.

Thats a good idea. The number of bibliographic records associated
with the authority record will be displayed and upon a click the
"Search Catalogue" will open displaying the records.
This facility is already available in OPAC, will be extended to librarian interface. On 10/20/2011 04:59 PM, pedroparkero [via NewGenLib] wrote: Good day!

I can confirm that this feature is implemented in the majority of library systems and it is very "welcomed".
