Good day, NGL team! I'd like to know your thoughts on the suggestion of putting another category in the source of acquisition: Replacement. This is for in case we get material from users that is supposed to be a replacement for a loan that they have lost. Since it's not a gift because it's mandatory, and it's not a purchase because it's not the library's money and it may be different from the one that the user lost, I figured that this third option can be useful.

Hi,
We are trying to get clarification on this query. If book lost is exactly same as the book replaced, then the best thing would be is to generate a duplicate barcode, stick it to the replaced book and check in. The below requirement is address a situation when the user replaces a book which is different from the book lost(probably a newer edition in most cases). Please clarify and comment On Saturday 17 December 2011 01:45 PM, pedroparkero [via NewGenLib] wrote: Good day, NGL team! Yes, I am concerned about what I will put in 'Acq Mode', if the replacement is going to replace the old accession number. What should the library indicate in 'acq mode' in that case? Should it inherit the old property of being a gift or a purchase even though it's no longer a gift (it's mandatory to replace book if lost) and no longer purchase (the library did not pay for the material)? The option is either 'Purchase' or 'Gift', but I think there should be a third option, which is "replacement". Just a suggestion though, just covering all the bases. :-)

Also, what do you suggest if a material is on a temporary loan from a faculty or ? Should I also put it as "Gift" in Acq mode, only it's a 'gift' with an expiry date? Or should there be an additional 4th option besides Purchase, Gift, Replacement? [And that is "(Temporary) Loan".]

Hi,
If you are getting any material on temporary loan basis it is recommended not to catalog them. Temporary recording of items is now available only for Inter Library Loans(Items received on loan basis from other libraries) On Saturday 04 February 2012 02:17 PM, pedroparkero [via NewGenLib] wrote: Also, what do you suggest if a material is on a temporary loan from a faculty or ? If the material is a gift, where do you put the donor's name?
|
Step 1: Go to Administration -> Configure System -> General
Setup parameters->Customize holdings fields. Add a new field
called Donor
Step 2: When ever you create a new accession number you can now fill in the donor name On 02/27/2012 09:55 AM, mavicsilva [via NewGenLib] wrote: If the materials is a gift, where do you put the donor's name?

Where exactly can I find the "Donor" field?
|
Hi,
You have an option to enter a new accession number, barcode, shelving location (Holdings screen). In that there is a button called "More>>>" click on that. You will find the Donor field On 02/27/2012 12:09 PM, mavicsilva [via NewGenLib] wrote: Where exactly can I find the "Donor" field?
