Renewal (Re-issue)

Ashok Kumar Satapathy
Thanks for your immediate support.

I can't re-issue those books who have crossed the due date. I mean to say overdue books can't be re-issued.

Plz. guide me "How can I re-issue overdue books instead of return"?

Expecting your early reply.

Re: Renewal (Re-issue)

Good day! Can I suggest that there also be a renewal module by patron view? For instance if the patron has borrowed many materials and wish to renew all or most of them, I think it's easier if a module lets you see all of his loans and just check all or most of the materials he wishes to renew (and then click 'renew') instead of listing the materials one by one. Maybe there could also be buttons there for 'recall' or 'mark lost' or 'return' beside 'renew'.

We accept the necessity for a feature to renew multiple documents in a single transaction.
However each renewal checks the following constraints
1. Is the renewal limit reached?
2. Is time ripe for renewal?
3. Is the item in demand?(Reservations on the same)
After these checks only a document is passed for renewal. Also it is simpler to renew an item through Barcode rather than Patron ID->Items Checked out->Renewal.
Please comment

If it's possible, every item can still be checked against these constraints and if it didn't pass, then that item would be uncheckable for renewal. But you are right, if there is a barcode reader, then it will be faster. Thanks for the input...

Good day!

Can I suggest that in the OPAC "renew checked out items", the rule of when can an item be available for renewal (ex., Book can be renewed __ days before due date, Magazine can be renewed __ days..., and so on) should be displayed on top? Also, the due dates of the items should also be displayed. That will be more convenient to the patrons instead of trying to renew items one by one and getting either success or "too early for renewal".

In addition, the renewal times allowed and how many times an item has been renewed already are also important information.
I understand the info on rules of when an item can be renewed and how many times can be renewed can be quite long depending on the configured formats, so maybe a popup window can be opened on the same page so users can consult it?

Yes. For each item we will display the dates between which it can renewed.
