Good day! I would like to know the nuances of using the sublocations configuration. What's it for and when should I use it?
Also, can I search and list books that are within a sublocation? Can I also search and list books within a shelving location? Thank you and eagerly waiting for your answers.

Sublocation: Major section/building within a library.
Shelving location: Shelf, racks in the library You can search with in a sub location. Please see Search limits For listing accession numbers within a shelving location, see "Stock Verification" report. It helps you to list of items shelving location wise. |
I see. I can search within a Sublocation but I can't list the books or know how many books are in that sublocation?
Can you help me how to do "stock verification"? I see it in the Desktop application but I cannot find the help file associated with it. Thank you.

Hi all,
Considering sub location as a major section of the library, I was wondering if it is possible to display somehow in each record's item this information. For example sublocation:shelving location Main library: Nonfiction I would really like to hear your opinion on this. My only concern is the case that a library don't use sub locations. Yes, of course there is the 852 field to give this information, but I always use the shelving location and the sub location as they are given by the system. Please see below the screenshots:
As you see here is the sub location: and here the selling location I use these options and not the 852 field. What it would be nice to see is the item in webopac like the screenshot below: So the sub location information to be given somewhere in the item (maybe close to the shelving location). Regards |
This issue is accepted for the update 1 of 3.0.3 version. Thank you very much.
Please let me ask something else this information that NewGenLib gives (Sublocation / shelving location) are not linked with the 852 field. So, if we want to export any record this information would be lost unless we add the 852 field, right? I know it may be difficult but it would be great the NewGenLib information (Sublocation and shelving location) would be great to be linked with the 852. For example: 852 $aName of the Library $bsublocation $cshelvinglocation Of course this is an idea. I believe the higher priority is to be displayed the newgenlib sub location information on WebOpac. Thanks for listening :) |
