Suggestions for NGL Destop reports

pedroparkero
Good day! I hope you can consider these suggestions for the improvement of NGL Desktop:

* The Desktop can calculate the checkouts between dates, but I hope it's also capable of determining the average per day, or at least indicate the number of days involved (i.e., total days in between dates - holidays)
* A usage statistics for each type of patron category (e.g., a separate checkout statistic for students and faculty)

Thank you and keep up the good work...

Re: Suggestions for NGL Destop reports

For example, if I chose to make a circulation report of transactions between Jan1 to Jan30, the numbers will only show the total. I hope there's also a computation of the average transaction per day in a certain month. We can manually calculate it as transactions/number of days, but determining the number of days isn't simple because there are holidays bet. Jan1 & Jan30. So what I would like to include in the report is the number of actual days the library is open between certain dates that were entered.

Also, I hope the next version of NGL Desktop can also add a Material type column in its detailed circulation report, so that not only can we sort by patron type, but also by material type (General Circulation book, Reserved book, Reference book, etc.).

Thanks. May I ask how to get a report of most active users / number of checkouts? Even an sql query will do fine.

New Report added in Circulation -> Active Patrons

Step 1: Download the NGLDesktop.zip from

http://sourceforge.net/projects/newgenlib/files/NewGenLib%20Desktop/version%202.0%20beta/NightlyBuilds/26June2012/NGLDesktop.zip/download

Step 2: Extract this zip file. You will get a directory called NGLDesktop. Go into this folder, you will find a file named NewGenLibDesktop.jar. Select this file, right click and "Copy"

Step 3: Stop NewGenLib Server (Apache Tomcat Server)

Step 4: Paste the file copied in Step 2 into C:/NGL3/apache-tomcat-6.0.32/webapps/desktop/jars directory
System will prompt whether overwrite the existing file. Overwrite it

Step 5: Start NewGenLib Server (Apache Tomcat)

Step 6: Re-launch the NewGenLib Desktop Application. While doing this you must see the new NGL Desktop being loaded into the client

Re: Suggestions for NGL Destop reports

pedroparkero
The report looks nice. Thank you.
But I'm afraid I do not grasp exactly what is the difference between "Check out" and "Check out and return" transaction weights. Does the latter give points for returning the books on time while the former gives points just for checking out books? But how come patrons have a '0' score in "Check out" but a big score in "Check out and return"?

Also, may I suggest that the report can be made by fiscal year, which start & end dates were configured in the 'Fiscal Year' under configure system? Also, some libraries may wish to have a different report every end of the month, if they have a program that gives prizes to most active users per month, so the capability to select the start and end dates for the report would be greatly helpful. Thank you.

Re: Suggestions for NGL Destop reports

Check out means those transactions in which items are checked out and not yet returned to the library (Items still held by the patron)
where as
Check out and return means those transactions in which items are checked out and also are returned back to the library. Hence the count of this is more

Yes, we will add Date (From and To) as a parameter
