Hi,
I am having an issue with checking out any books. The error alert dialogue I get is: "critical error - a critical error has occured on the NewGenLib Server. The following steps will help you to send the problem to NewGenLib customer Support" and when I click on the "retrieve log file" button I get another error saying it cannot retrieve it from the server and to get it directly from the server. Does anyone know what the issue might be and where on the server to find the log file?? Version is 3.04. Many Thanks! |
Hi,
Can you tell us whether your installation is a new one or did you upgrade from an older version of NGL? On 5/16/2013 10:32 PM, Kieran Butler [via NewGenLib] wrote: Hi,

Hi,
Yes it has been upgraded once but i'm not sure what the previous version was? Do you know where I can locate the error logs? or if you have any other ideas how I can rectify this? Many Thanks! |
Step 1: Copy these files into C: drive
File 1: InstallNGL3.0/scripts/AddedScripts.sql File 2: InstallNGL3.0/upgrade303/V304Scripts.sql Step 2: Execute above files using psql command On 5/17/2013 2:46 PM, Kieran Butler [via NewGenLib] wrote: Hi,

Hi Again,
Sorry its taken me a while to test this. I followed your instructions and ran those scripts but it didn't make any difference I still get the error when I try to check out books. Then I installed a fresh copy of new lib gen and imported the database from the original and I also get the same error which may suggest it is a database issue? It would be good to be able see some type of error log to see whats happening? or if you have any other ideas I would be very grateful. Thanks, Kieran |
Also apparently this issue began after an accidental update from java 6 to 7.
The first thing we did was to uninstall java 7 and reinstall java 6 but no change. And when testing on a different machine with a new installation with java 6 being installed from the beginning the same error. Is it possible an upgrade from java 6 to java 7 could have altered the database in some way?? |
Respected Patron
There should not be any issue with the Java version. Because Java 7 is supported. Can you please email us your postgresql database backup? Hi,
Do you have any more help or advice for me on this? Thanks, KIeran |
Respected Patron,
Please follow below steps In the librarian interface Step 1: Go to Administration -> Configure System Step 2: On the left hand side of the screen you will find a tree item called Form letters. Double click on it. This will open Edit/View Form letters Step 3: Double click on "Check out slip", it will fetch you its details. (Here a browser may open, minimize it and come back to Librarian interface) Step 4: Click on the button "Define Text". Step 5: You will now find the there are curly braces before and after LIbrarian ({Librarian}). Please remove those curly braces (Librarain). Click on Close and also click on "OK" to save changes. Now try to check out the item On 6/6/2013 8:32 PM, Kieran Butler [via NewGenLib] wrote: Hi,
