Good day! I'd like to know more on how to use Gmail to automatically send overdue notices to patrons. Please tell me how I can achieve this and what files should I edit? Thank you.

Firstly create a Gmail account for your library (if you do not have one)
Hope you are using NewGenLib 3.0.2 update 2 http://www.verussolutions.biz/kb/upgradeTo302Upade2 In this update you will be downloading mail.properties (Place it in C:/NewGenLibFiles/SystemFiles) By filling the mail.properties auto emails are sent as soon as you check out/check in/renew/recall books. To send Overdue notices and remainders for renewals you must use NewGenLib End-of-day process http://www.verussolutions.biz/kb/installngleod

I did it! Thanks for the instructions. :-D
Unfortunately, it only sends email in check outs but not in returns. Did I do something wrong?

Go to
Administration -> Configure System -> General Setup Parameters Go to Circulation section -> Check in slips section Check "Required" Check "Individual" (Not consolidated) Click on "Ok" button to save Not necessary, just for safe side: Close NewGenLib client and open again

Just curious: will no email be sent if I selected "consolidated"? Or will that email just be sent as an end-of-day process? Also, why is there a "number of check in slips" option? Right now that number is configured to "1" in our system. But wouldn't the number depend on how many books are being returned if it's "individual"? (So if 5 books were returned, then the number of check in slips are '5'). And that number will be automatically turn into '1' if it's consolidated?

Number of check in slips: This is useful when you are printing. If you communication mode is Email, put number of copies as 1. I see. I am already using 3.02. So just to be clear: If my communication mode is email, then "consolidated" will not work for me, right? I should always use individual option.
