i did that and i always downgrade my java from 7 to 6 update 31.
it is a little faster now. thanks. |
Hi,
I think your Java Plugin is auto-upgrading. You can disable that from Java in Control Panel of Windows. Vacuum Full Analyse must be done at regular intervals. As a policy please do it on the last working day of the month On 03/20/2012 11:08 AM, mavicsilva [via NewGenLib] wrote: i did that and i always downgrade my java from 7 to 6 update 31.

Good day! it seems NGL still can't catch closing parentheses in ISBN fields & Subject fields correctly when importing a MARC txt from LC. we have to give closing parentheses to these fields manually. Also, the OPAC doesn't show closing parenthesis in ISBN even though I have edited the field to have a closing parenthesis.
And I don't know if it is just me, but after a corporate author with an opening parenthesis got accidentally created without a closing parenthesis, I tried to modify it in Configure System->Authority files->Corporate name search, I inserted a closing parenthesis but after I clicked OK, I got a critical error.

Hi,
The special characters (preceding and succeeding) are auto-removed by the system. The reason is that while displaying the record the punctuation is auto-displayed by the system. However from version 3.0.5, we will be adding a customizable punctuation engine. This punctuation engine will punctuate the catalogue record while cataloguing it self. Hence while displaying the record the system does not meddle with the punctuation. However in the meanwhile we will sort the below issue On 03/24/2012 02:54 PM, pedroparkero [via NewGenLib] wrote: Good day! it seems NGL still can't catch closing parentheses in ISBN fields & Subject fields correctly when importing a MARC txt from LC. we have to give closing parentheses to these fields manually. Good day!
I'm troubleshooting my inability to edit an authority record by importing from LC. Could there be a reason why a client librarian interface can't paste an authority record from LC while it is possible in the server computer itself?

The most probable reason will be character set. If you are using IE
on the client system check the character encoding, it must be UTF-8

I am using Firefox and it says in its Menu: View->Character encoding that it is already set to UTF-8.

Can you please send the details of the record for testing it
locally?

I have tried many authority records from LC Authority and none worked pasting in a client-based NGL. Just for instance, I am trying to paste this now:

Good day!
I would like to ask if it's possible to adjust the columns in the Technical Processing -> Cataloging section. For instance, right now I'd like to lengthen the "Sub Field" column, because a description of the subfield is cut off and I would like to see its whole title, but I can't even though my cursor turns into a double arrow when I hover over the column headings. Nothing happens even though I drag the cursor around. Actually, the "Data" column will also benefit from such adjustment, because its right side still has some space left that isn't being utilized.

Hi,
Thank you for pointing out the issue. Sub field column and data column will now be resizable. This change is already made. You will get this in Update 5 Regards NewGenLib Open Source Team On 04/10/2012 09:30 AM, pedroparkero [via NewGenLib] wrote: Good day!

Good day! I'd like to know how to make suggestive lists. Thank you.
-------------------------------------------------
With great knowledge comes great responsibility. |
Step 1: Select the Sub field (In Primary Cataloguing) to which you
want to add suggestive list. For example: Select "Relation of work"
under Joint Author.
Step 2: Click on Other actions->Suggestive Lists. This will open "Suggestive Lists dialog". For example add items: Complier, Editor, Illustrator. And click on "Ok" Step 3: Hence forth if you want to pick suggestive terms for Relation of work in Joint Author, press F6 function key and select the desired suggestive term On 05/11/2012 07:02 AM, pedroparkero [via NewGenLib] wrote: Good day!
