Usually Debian installs Java in the
same directory where you executed the <Java
installation>.bin file
Please follow the below steps
1. Download Jdk for Linux (NOT THE RPM one)
2. Place the downloaded file in your home directory. Say your home
directory is /home/YourName
3. Run that .bin installation file
4. In /home/YourName directory you will see the jdk1.6.0_XX
directory
5. Now type the below command in the terminal
export JAVA_HOME=/home/YourName/jdk1.6.0_XX
Lastly in the same terminal run the Apache Tomcat Server (or
RunNGLServer.sh)
