Hi,
I found Newgenlib looking for a good possibily web-based librarian program and it looks really interesting. I then run into the website to see the installation requirements. So i read that i have to install postgresql 8.3 and java 6. Since i am on archlinux that is on a rolling release, i have postgresql 9 and my java -version gives me java version "1.7.0_03-icedtea" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea7 2.1) (ArchLinux build 7.b147_2.1-3-x86_64) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 22.0-b10, mixed mode). I also saw that in the zip file there is apache-ant 1.8.1 while on my machine i have 1.8.4 installed The question is do I have to remove these packages and install the ones recomended by newgenlib? Hello,
Greetings from NewGenLib Open Source. 1. We strongly recommend Sun Java 6.0 available at java.sun.com 2. We have not yet tested the system for Postgresql 9.0. You must install Postgresql 8.4 (8.3, 8.2, 8.1, 8.0 are also fine) 3. You can run Open JDK and Sun Java side by side 4. However we recommend to remove Postgresql 9.0 and install the above mentioned version. The only reason we are asking you to remove Postgresql 9.0 so that it does not result in port 5432 clash.
