unable to restore the back up

Sir,
I Hemavathi working as librarian in GOODWILL CHRISTIAN COLLEGE FOR WOMEN Bangalore was earlier using New gentib but then system crashed But I have backup.for personnel support i will contact later.
The problem is I am not  been able to open PGDM to restore the backup.
In my system some old supporting files are there may be is that the problem ? So please suggest me to overcome the problem.                                                                                  thanking you
