I downloaded the same file but could not execute the bin file. Nothing happens when i double click it.
So I downloaded Java SE JDK 6 using Synaptic Manager.

postgres@libuser-desktop:~$ java -version
java version "1.6.0_20"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.9.13) (6b20-1.9.13-0ubuntu1~10.04.1)
OpenJDK Server VM (build 19.0-b09, mixed mode)
 
this is the version installed.

wht should i do now?
