Sir is that possible to override fine later on i mean after return the book or at no dues?
|
No. Fine must be overridden only at the time of check in. However we
will consider this as a upgrade issue. We will make a feature
available at "Collect overdues" functionality to override fines.

Another issue regarding fine system you may consider in the next upgrade.
Many instititution did not take fine upto second overdue day due to less availability of Rs. 1, 2, etc. The fine starts at the third overdue date (i.e. user fine starts at Rs. 3) . The librarian will decide when the fine will start . It may be a good feature. To overide the fine, you may provide a row for the cause of overriding the fine. This facility, I have recently seen in other software. Regards |
Hi,
Can you please make the first requirement more clear? Regarding the second requirement, we will add a "Reason note" so that the reason for overriding the fine can be mentioned On Thursday 12 January 2012 04:55 PM, rsgiri [via NewGenLib] wrote: Another issue regarding fine system you may consider in the next upgrade.

Hi,
For Instance, Due date of a book is 27 January, 2012. If a student return on 28th Jan, the fine will be Rs. 1., on 29th Jan, it is Rs. 2. and on return 30 Jan Rs. 3, and so on. Instead of taking fine on 28 th jan, the fine may start from 31st jan and will calculate the amount of Rs. 4. The library will not collect fine of Rs. 1, 2, or 3.. It will collect the fine from Rs 4.0 onwards. (i.e., student with fine of rs. 1, 2 or 3 have not to be paid, many institutuion called it a grace period of 3 days. ). The grace period must depends on the policy of the Library. The same also be reflected in total overdue collection report. |

Dear Hemant,
Here calculation will start from Rs. 1., We do not want to collect Rs. 1, 2 or 3 due to less availability of changes. I will start the collection from Rs. 4 onwards. This particular feature is available in KOHA, LibSys (Tailor made customisation version only with a Hefty Charge). |

Grace period facility will be added in "Circulation Privilege
Matrix"
Also a remarks field will be added so that any information can be updated during Check out, Check in, Renewal, or any other Circulation transaction On Friday 13 January 2012 11:23 AM, rsgiri [via NewGenLib] wrote: Hi,

Hi,
This email is regarding the Grace period. For example: Loan period is 10 days. After the loan period there is grace period of 3 days. After that the fine is calculated. For such situation, in NewGenLib In Circulation Privilege Matrix, define loan period as 10 days. And Overdue(fine) configuration as below From 1 day to 3 days - 0 (Grace period) From 4 days to 14 days - Rs 0.50 From 15 to 30 days - Re. 1 From 31 days till book is returned back - Rs 2 Hence grace period can be handled this way. Please comment on the same. Hi,
This logic are now being applie by us and it is quite O. K. There is no need to give it in Circulation priviledge matrix. Another suggestion, in earlier version log out screen is there, but in recent version, quit mode is there. Earlier log out screen is much desirable than the present quit mode in a library where circulation is controlled by two or three library staff. Please consider it. |
